2019 Annual Banquet Letter

Dear Old Timers Baseball Association of Portland Members and Guests:

Once again, it’s time to mark your calendars for the event that kicks off a new year of baseball! Players, coaches, umpires, and fans of all ages will gather for the 85th Annual Old Timers Baseball Association of Portland Banquet on the evening of Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the Multnomah Athletic Club, 1849 S.W. Salmon Street in Portland. The Hot Stove League will gather between 4:00 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. A 3-course pot roast dinner will be served promptly at 6:30 p.m.

Those of you who have attended previous banquets know to plan on having a wonderful evening anticipating the upcoming season and reliving past seasons. The banquet is a chance for old friends to renew acquaintances and for first-time attendees to meet others who love the game as much as they do. Our featured speakers are Mike Barrett of the MLB to PDX effort and former OSU and MLB player, Darwin Barney. Isaac Ropp will emcee the evening.

The banquet is not just a way to put a bit of baseball into the midwinter months, it is also a fundraiser for college scholarships and youth baseball programs. By purchasing banquet tickets, you are making possible several scholarships awarded to seniors graduating from local high schools who are continuing their baseball careers at colleges and universities, and outstanding player awards donated to their respective high schools. You are also helping fund a number of grants to worthy youth baseball programs in the area.

Banquet tickets are $75 each, which includes your membership in the Old Timers Baseball Association of Portland, and should be ordered as soon as possible to reserve seats for you and your friends at this year’s event. Tickets may be purchased online at www.pdxoldtimersbaseball.com or from Glenn Miller. Glenn can be contacted by e-mail at miller1987@centurylink.net or by telephone at 503-238-6647. No tickets will be sold at the door. As always, there will be a silent auction, and plenty of signed baseballs for the collectors.

If you are unable to attend this year’s banquet but would like to contribute toward the scholarships and youth baseball grants, please send your $5 membership fee and any additional contribution to the Old Timers at the address listed below.

All of us on the Board look forward to seeing you at this year’s banquet. The evening will be outstanding!

Sincerely,

Tom Wise, President

Kim Hebrard, Exec. Secretary
